Disasters are the events of environmental extremes which are inevitable entities of this living world. Over the years, with the increasing human intrusion in the natural systems and the changing global environment, the impact and frequency of the disasters is augmenting.

Integration of natural resource management with disaster management helps in ensuring self-reliance and sustainability of disaster risk reduction efforts besides improving the livelihoods and socio-economic resilience to impacts of disasters.

The focus of integration calls for use of environmental statistics and decision support system including space technology and geoinformatics application, and strategic tools – like law, EIA, audit, etc. role of spatial planning and information-reporting system in context of chemical-industrial disaster management is a key towards multi-hazard risk management.
