Shivani Narayanan made her debut on television in 2016 with the Vijay TV series Pagal Nilavu as Sneha, initially in a supporting role. However, her character was later changed to a lead role due to the positive response from the audience. She appeared as a guest on Saravanan Meenatchi 3 and later competed in Jodi Fun Unlimited, where she became a finalist. Shivani then appeared in Kadaikutty Singam and started working on the serial Rettai Roja as Anu and Abi, but was eventually replaced by Chandini Tamilarasan. She then gained popularity on Instagram, which led her to participate in the reality show Bigg Boss 4 Tamil in 2020. Afterward, she was cast in the LCU’s Vikram alongside Kamal Haasan and also signed for supporting roles in RJ Balaji’s Veetla Vishesham and Vadivelu’s comeback movie Naai Sekar Returns.
