Learning from International experiences on iDRM:

  • Mock drills to improve the existing procedures,
  • Incorporation of translation of HIRA results into the development of layout plan of individual industry as well as in the industrial estates/parks
  • Improvement of the on-site and off-site plans with the help of international experts
  • Know the international methods and procedures for making, evaluating and practicing the on and off site emergency plans
  • building the community confidence during risk reduction measures
  • Accident reporting and investigation procedures
  • reporting chemical disasters by taking examples of a few International industrial disasters
Expected results/impacts
  • Increase the quality and approach for industry lay out
  • Integration of international knowledge and skills to improve current practices for the development of new - concepts, guidelines and regulations to:
  • a. Develop safe industrial areas/parks
  • b. Reorientation of on-site and off-site management practices to reduce transport, storage and process based risks
  • c. integrating on-site and off-site emergency planning, especially relevant new industrial parks
  • Capacity development of making reduced risk industrial estates/parks
  • Organising the improved Mock drills
  • Improving the accidents reporting and investigating procedure for lesion learning to reduce accidents/disasters rates
  • Improving the media reporting for chemicals disasters
